The Wilson County Master Gardener Association will meet on Tuesday evening, 6 September 2016 at 6:30 PM in the Education Building at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center in Lebanon, TN.
The dinner theme is End of Summer Casserole Fare, and our guest speaker is Patrick Larkin, Senior Vice President of Gardens at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville.
Mr. Larkin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in horticulture from Virginia Tech and the Master of Science degree in public horticulture administration from the Longwood Graduate Program at University of Delaware. He began his career in public horticulture as a horticulturist at the Smithsonian Institution Enid A. Haupt Garden, where he honed his ornamental garden skills — including design, installation and collections management — raising the display quality of this nationally recognized showpiece garden. Larkin later served as Director of Horticulture and Operations at the American Horticultural Society’s headquarters, George Washington’s River Farm. Later, he held positions as Executive Director of Green Bay Botanical Garden in Green Bay, Wisconsin, as Chief Executive Officer at Descanso Gardens in La Cañada, CA, and 9 years as Executive Director at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden in Claremont, CA, before coming to Nashville. Larkin is married with 4 children.
