2024 Wilson County Fair ADULT Fruit & Vegetable Show Check-in Volunteer Form

Entry Check-in Team Volunteers (4 teams per shift):

Registration System Volunteers:

Should be familiar with registration system and comfortable with inputting entries.  Training available.  Checks entries for persons Wilson County residents who have Exhibitor Number.  Prints entry labels.  Directs anyone who does not have a Exhibitor number to the Fair desk.  Task involves mostly sitting.

Veg/Fruit ID and Labeling Volunteers:

Familiar with and comfortable identifying the Class & Category of each fruit and vegetable entry according to the 2024 catalog.  Uses SMALLEST PLATE possible to display entry, even if it hangs over a bit.  This helps to conserve space on the entry display racks.  Tapes Exhibitor entry ticket to plate (or item) making sure the Exhibitor name is hidden.  Gives entry stub(s) to Exhibitor.  Involves siting and standing.

Note:

Weighing and measuring the LARGEST fruit/vegetable entries is done ONLY by the Chairperson or Assistant Chairperson.

Runners (but not shakers) Volunteers (5 per shift):

Carefully, quickly & efficiently moves registered entries to the display area in the WC Adult Fruit & Vegetable display & judging area.  Uses trays for plated items and carts and wagons for heavy items and large Garden Vegetable Display items.  Items like sunflower heads and stalks may need to be carried individually.  Drop off and immediately make your way back to the Registration/Labeling area.  Volunteers must be able to walk, stand and lift.  Gloves may be helpful.  Lifting largest items will be a team effort.

Note:  Jimmy Morris, M.D. is the Display Master and will direct Runners where he wants the entries placed.
