The following events and classes are being offered by, or are of interest to the members of, the Wilson County Master Gardener Association. Some are open to the public and some are for Master Gardeners and interns only. 5 January – WCMG Meeting
at 6:30 PM in the Education Building, James E. Ward Ag. Center, 945 East Baddour Parkway, Lebanon TN 37087. Our guest speaker will be Bill Troup, superintendent of Metro Parks Nature Centers & Natural Areas, who will be speaking on Exotic Invasive Plants & Insect Pests. Our dinner theme for January is “New Year’s Resolution Favorite Recipes” so anything goes.

2 February – WCMG Meeting & Chili Competition

5 April – Intern Graduation & WCMG Meeting (note the venue change)
at 6:30 PM in the Veterans Building in Fiddlers Grove, James E. Ward Ag. Center, Tennessee Boulevard, Lebanon TN 37087. Our interns are graduating… they grow up so fast! The dinner theme is potluck, but be sure to bring enough for the graduating interns. Drinks, entrees and desserts. The Association is providing ham.
12-13 April – Wilson County Farm Days
from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM in the Horse Arena (new location) at James E. Ward Ag Center. Volunteers are needed both days to assist 2nd graders with planting beans. 7 May – Labors of Love Garden Party
from 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon at the Community Garden at Charlie Daniels Park in Mount Juliet. Volunteers are needed for set up& tear down, as well as during the event. This is an educational outreach, community event for the whole family. Activities include: WCMG Help Line, a pollinator station, UT Ext. Agent David Cook (Bug Man), a honey bee hive, garden tours, SCAN (Senior Citizens Awareness Network), plant and seed give-a-way, building a raised bed demonstration, composting demonstrations, and lots more. Our guest speaker will be Margaret Cantrell of Wilson County Beekeepers Association – a year in the life of the hive and the job functions of various bees. The dinner theme is ‘Patriotic 5th of July Picnic Fare” and don’t forget to wear your red, white & blue

at 6:30 PM at the Opry Stage in Fiddlers Grove. The dinner theme is Fresh from the Garden. After dinner in a brief business meeting, we will take a walking tour of Fiddlers Grove and the various demonstration gardens. The Opry Stage is an outdoor venue, so dress accordingly and keep the heat in mind when choosing what dish you bring for dinner.

6 December – Election of Officers, Award Ceremony & Christmas / Holiday Dinner
at 6:30 PM in the Education Building at James E. Ward Ag. Center in Lebanon. Lots going on:
- We will elect a new vice-president, secretary and certification officer for two year terms.
- This is also our Christmas party so everyone is encouraged to wear their most festive Christmas attire. A prize will be given.
- Also we will be having a cookie swap – everyone brings 2 dozen cookies and they will be able to take home 2 dozen cookies.
- The food theme will be heavy hors d’oeuvres.so we’ll be eating pretty high on the hog!
